Art Therapy In Namibia |
Creative Arts Therapists Cheryl Walpole & christi meyer volunteered at an environmental educational camp in the Namib desert, called NaDEET. They provided art therapy to the campers who range in age and economic status. We left the camp with the resources to not only enrich their culture, but with the ability to achieve self-expression through art. for further information please feel free to contact either of us at our email: cheryl@arttherapynewyorktonamibia.com arttherapynewyorktonamibia.com |
Shosholoza is a traditional Southern African folk song. The song was sung by all-male work gangs in a call and response style. The Zulu word Shosholoza means go forward or make way for the next man, and is also reminiscent of the sound made by the steam train (stimela) described in the song.
This song has several meanings for Africans and has most recently become a song to represent the struggle of the AIDS epedemic.
It is also used as a song of unity for the South Africa Rugby Team….
Despite it’s various meanings, I thought it was performed quite brilliantly by these kids.
