Art Therapy In Namibia |
Creative Arts Therapists Cheryl Walpole & christi meyer volunteered at an environmental educational camp in the Namib desert, called NaDEET. They provided art therapy to the campers who range in age and economic status. We left the camp with the resources to not only enrich their culture, but with the ability to achieve self-expression through art. for further information please feel free to contact either of us at our email: cheryl@arttherapynewyorktonamibia.com arttherapynewyorktonamibia.com |
Game Drive……..Another NaDEET field trip found us back in the bakkie Sunday morning to go on the search for cheetah and giraffe on the NamibRand Reserve. The access to the areas where we visited are usually quite restricted and for private use by the 2 local lodges and 2 private residences that inhabit the vast landscape but we received special permission (cause we are cool and all). The reserve has introduced 6 cheetahs that have monitoring devices in which we were able to find out where they were at last tracking. The wind was not on our side and the cheetah were no where to be seen but after a picnic lunch we had the most awaited animal spotting of them all! For all of you that may not know, Christi loves her some giraffe in a special kind of way. They are her “spirit animal” and has a tattoo of one on her right shoulder. The giraffe love runs real deep, ok? We found ourselves just meters away from all 9 giraffe!!!!! There were no bars or protective glass, just us and them out and about on a Sunday afternoon. Seeing these huge, beautiful animals in the wild was such a special treat and only made us more excited for our upcoming trip to Etosha National Park.
yay giraffe!
